Learning dominates panel among pre-candidates for the RS government promoted by Grupo RBS

Panel on education promoted by Grupo RBS, in partnership with Todos Pela Educação and with support from Instituto Caldeira, brings together Gabriel Souza (MDB), Juliana Brizola (PDT), Luciano Zucco (PL) and Marcelo Maranata (PSDB). Duda Fortes/Agência RBS The four main pre-candidates for the government of Rio Grande do Sul participated, this Friday (24), in Porto Alegre, in a panel on education promoted by Grupo RBS, in partnership with Todos Pela Educação and with support from Instituto Caldeira. The meeting brought together Gabriel Souza (MDB), Juliana Brizola (PDT), Luciano Zucco (PL) and Marcelo Maranata (PSDB). For around an hour and a half, the pre-candidates answered questions about different challenges facing public education. The most recurrent theme was student learning, with proposals focused on literacy, combating school dropout, valuing teachers and expanding full-time education. ? He defended policies to reduce school dropouts, pedagogical reinforcement throughout the year, continued teacher training and expansion of full-time secondary education. He also said that he intends to maintain the technical management of education and expand integrated technical education. "Learning is exactly the center of our government plan. We defend the policy of protecting the student's trajectory. The first point is to keep the student in the classroom, combat abandonment and evasion. The second is the continued training of teachers", he declared. Juliana Brizola (PDT) The pre-candidate said that the State needs to accompany students from early childhood to avoid learning gaps. He defended a permanent learning recovery program, greater integration between the State and municipalities, appreciation of teachers and expansion of full-time schools. “The State needs to ensure that students arrive at secondary school prepared. As we have these learning deficits, we need to have a permanent program to rescue this learning”, he declared. Luciano Zucco (PL) The federal deputy linked the improvement of learning to the appreciation of teachers and school management. He defended investments in teachers' mental health, strengthening technical and vocational education and criticized automatic approval, stating that it compromises student learning. "We need to understand that whoever directs education will bring effective results. We have to encourage full-time schooling. Logically, early childhood is something that will impact our entire lives, with literacy", he declared. Marcelo Maranata (PSDB) The former mayor of Guaíba stated that learning depends on students remaining at school and more efficient management of teaching units. He defended greater family participation, modernization of schools, attention to children with disabilities and incentives to reduce school dropout rates. "The school needs to modernize. Bring young people into the school. And, of course, there has to be encouragement for this. You need to have a manager at the school so that the goals and objectives of that school are well defined", he declared.
