The change was made official by a law published in the Official State Gazette this Friday (10). ? With the change, the benefit also includes cases of orphanhood caused by femicide. The law maintains financial assistance from the Paraíba que Acolhe Program in the amount of R$534.32 per month.

According to the new text, the eventual death benefit will be paid to beneficiaries in a situation of orphanage caused by Covid-19 or femicide, as long as the requirements set out in the legislation are met. Payment continues until the beneficiary reaches the age of majority or in cases established by law. The new legislation also expands the program’s responsibilities. Among them is the guidance for municipalities to actively search for cases of orphanhood due to Covid-19 and femicide that have not yet been identified by the Health or Social Assistance systems.
