Reasons for the change According to taxi drivers, the mandatory silver color was creating obstacles when renewing the fleet due to two main factors: Lack of stock. Taxi drivers faced constant difficulties finding silver vehicles available at dealerships in the region. Licensing bureaucracy, in which electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers started to adopt different names for the tonal variations, such as "Amazonite Gray" and "Diamond Gray". The nomenclature divergence hindered the acquisition and documentation of new cars. Councilor Thiago Ribeiro stated that the limitation was making the modernization of the city's fleet unfeasible. How it looks now With the repeal of the text, Common mode vehicles will be free to use any color, with the exception of black, which continues to be exclusively used by the Executive taxi category. Other changes in the sector The release of colors adds to other recent legislative measures that changed the rules for taxi drivers in the municipality.
