The almost 400 traffic accidents recorded in just over seven months and around 600 twin-train trucks passing daily through the Center of Itaperuna were the main themes of the meeting of the Union of the Community Public Security Council, held on Tuesday (28), at the headquarters of the municipality's OAB. The meeting brought together authorities, security forces and representatives of civil society to discuss prevention measures and possible solutions to reduce crashes, pedestrian collisions and falls among motorcyclists. According to a survey by Inter TV and g1 with data from the Fire Department, Itaperuna recorded 391 traffic accidents between January and July 27, 2026, the highest number among the 14 municipalities served by the 21st Military Fire Brigade. ? The president of the Council, Luciano Belo, once again called for the construction of Estrada do Contorno, a project linked to BR-356 that aims to remove part of the heavy traffic from the central area of ??the city. The discussion took place on the same day that another accident between a car and a motorcycle was recorded on the urban stretch of BR-356, in the Aeroporto neighborhood, reinforcing the warning about the need for measures to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents in Itaperuna.
