Iron bar comes loose from truck and hits car on PR-323 Two men narrowly escaped a tragedy during a trip between Pérola, in the northwest of Paraná, and Maringá, in the north of the state. During the journey, the car they were in was hit by an iron bar that came loose from a truck traveling in the opposite direction. Geovane Useda da Cruz, who works as a driver at Pérola city hall, said that the object hit the windshield, went through the glass and crossed the car. Luckily, he only had a few injuries to his hands and face from the shrapnel. At the time of the accident, he was taking a patient to an appointment. The piece grazed the man, ending up breaking his nose, but he was not seriously injured either. Both were rescued and discharged on the same day. ? But the journey that would cover more than 200 kilometers was interrupted when the driver reached km 190 of PR-323, in Jussara, in the northwest of Paraná. "There was a line of trucks coming from the opposite direction. When I passed the intersection, I only felt that a part of the truck came and hit the window. At the time I hadn't seen what it was, whether it was an iron or another object. For me it was a stone that had hit the windshield. I couldn't tell with the speed and force of the impact", said the driver. The iron bar that hit the car measures approximately one meter. The vehicle's window had a hole in the driver's direction, the rear view mirror was broken, it hit a pillar and tore a structure of the car. Pérola City Hall It was Geovane who helped the passenger, who ended up getting stuck with the iron bar in his lap. For the driver, the case was a relief, as, just a few centimeters apart, one of the two could have been hit squarely by the object. "At the time there was no time to think about anything. The only thing we thought about was whether I was okay. I saw that I was okay and that the iron didn't hit me. The first thing I thought about was my passenger. I looked at him bleeding a lot and I was a little scared. That's where I got out and took him out of the vehicle", he said. According to Geovane, it was not possible to know which truck the part came off from. Although everyone is fine, the driver claims he is still traumatized by the accident. However, he was grateful for the new chance. "It's a shock, right?! We leave home and everyone who works on the road knows they are at direct risk. I myself left my daughter at home, my son, my wife. They were sleeping when I left home. We get a shock because we go out to work and are not sure we will return. [...] We were born again. I spoke to my patient yesterday and it was a deliverance, and we receive it as a grace from God", concludes Geovane. In a statement, Pérola city hall thanked the rescue teams for their work and highlighted that, despite the damage to the vehicle, the most important thing is that the occupants are out of danger.
