Grupo Narraiz closes the program of the project 'Nas Águas do Itaqui' with a free show in São Luís Reproduction/Ascom Grupo Narraiz performs, this Friday (24), the last presentation of the show "Bicho que vira gente, gente que vira bicho", promoted by the project Nas Águas do Itaqui. The session takes place at 5pm, at Teatro Itapicuraíba, in the Anjo da Guarda neighborhood, in São Luís, with free entry. The main artistic creation of the Narraiz Group, the show delves into the universe of the narratives of the “engerados” and is inspired by oral tradition and ancestral tales to guide the public through stories of enchantments, metamorphoses and mysteries present in the imagination of Maranhão. The production brings together storytelling, musicality and theater in lively ways, valuing the knowledge transmitted orally between generations. ? The program took place in community spaces in São Luís and São José de Ribamar, bringing cultural activities closer to different audiences and territories. According to actress Mariana Madeira, the project arose from the desire to strengthen artistic circulation in territories connected by São Marcos Bay. "Nas Águas do Itaqui is born from a research section on the show Bicho que vira gente, gente que vira bicho. In one of the moments of the production, we get closer to the figure of King Dom Sebastião and his relationship with the Itaqui-Bacanga region", he explains. For the group, circulation represents a milestone in its trajectory. "For us, more than taking the public to a theater, it makes a lot of sense to take theater to territories, occupying community spaces and expanding access to cultural activities. This is precisely one of the strengths of public cultural policies", highlights Mariana Madeira. The project also includes the launch of the publication A Sereia de Itacolomi, strengthening the dialogue between literature, orality and theater. The initiative is carried out through Public Call Notice nº 006/2025 – Promotion of Artistic Centers, of the Aldir Blanc National Policy (PNAB), with the objective of strengthening circulation, training and cultural dissemination actions in Maranhão.
