Gantry installed on Rodovia dos Imigrantes Disclosure/Ecovias Drivers who use the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI) will, from August 1st, have access to a new toll collection system. Free flow (electronic gantries) will allow vehicles to pass through toll booths without having to stop at booths. The charge will be made through the gantries installed at Km 33 of Via Anchieta and Km 29 of Rodovia dos Imigrantes, in both directions. The information comes from the director of the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp), Raquel França Carneiro. According to her, the change will increase traffic fluidity, reduce accidents and pave the way for the definitive removal of toll plazas later this year. ?Click here to follow the g1 Santos channel on WhatsApp. The main change for users will be in the way they are charged. Currently, drivers pay R$40.60 only when going down Serra do Mar. With the free flow, there will be two charges of R$20.30, one in each direction. Raquel states that the change will mainly benefit truck drivers. Today, they pay the full fare on the way down, when they are loaded. With the new system, the fare will be calculated separately in each direction and, as many return empty and with fewer axles resting on the ground, the cost of the return trip will be lower.

Initially, according to the director, nothing changes at the toll plazas on the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega and Cônego Domênio Rangoni highways. The adoption of free flow in these sections will be discussed after the model is consolidated in the Anchieta-Imigrantes System. Artesp estimates that 77% of vehicles that circulate through the Anchieta-Imigrantes System already use electronic tags — a rate that reaches 71% among passenger vehicles and 93% among commercial vehicles. For these users, billing will continue to be automatic. Those who do not have a tag will be able to check their debts and make payment through the Siga Fácil platform, using Pix, credit card or Ecovias Imigrantes self-service totems. Free flow starts operating in Anchieta and Imigrantes on August 1st Disclosure/Ecovias As determined by Resolution 277 of the National Traffic Council (Contran), the deadline for settling electronic toll debts was extended to November 16th. After this date, the previous period of 30 days after passing through the gates must return to effect. Anyone who fails to pay will be subject to a fine of R$195.23 and five points on their National Driving License (CNH). There will be no discounts for frequent users, as is the case with more recent concessions. According to Raquel Carneiro, the Anchieta-Imigrantes System concession contract replaces the charging technology, but maintains the current tariff model. In addition to toll collection, the gantries will be part of the state program Muralha Paulista, which shares information in real time with the Military Highway Police. The equipment identifies vehicle characteristics, such as license plate, category, weight and number of axles. The Artesp director highlights that the technology is 99.99% accurate, even in rainy, fog, partially dirty license plates or vehicles traveling side by side. With the implementation of free flow, the current toll plazas will remain temporarily open for the free passage of vehicles until they are partially demolished. The definitive removal of the structures will depend on the implementation of a new Train Operation model, whose tests will begin in the second half of the year.
