The truck went the wrong way and sideswiped a trailer loaded with plant compost. Then, it hit another truck, which was going up the mountain carrying bicarbonate. With the impact, the truck driven by the native of Rio Grande do Norte and one of the trucks caught fire. Carlos was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. The drivers of the two trucks managed to get out of the vehicles. One of them was not injured and the other suffered minor injuries and was rescued by Samu.
