Former judge is accused of handing over TJ passwords, lending cell phones to prisoners and abuse of authority in RO

Court of Justice of Rondônia Mateus Santos/g1 The Public Ministry of Rondônia (MP-RO) reported to the Court a former substitute judge for handing over access passwords to the Court of Justice system (TJ-RO) to a person outside the Judiciary, allowing prisoners to use his cell phone and committing abuse of authority. The identity of the former magistrate was not disclosed. According to the MP, the former judge asked employees from his own office to hand over the access passwords to the Court of Justice systems to a person who did not work in the Judiciary. As a result, this person would have accessed internal systems and processes that were being processed in secret. The conduct is investigated as a violation of functional confidentiality. The complaint also states that, when he was responsible for criminal enforcement in the district, the former judge gave his own cell phone to inmates to make calls and ordered that other calls be made using a server's phone. The third case involves suspected abuse of authority. According to the complaint, in July 2023, the then magistrate demanded that prison officers allow the entry of a person with no connection to the prison system or the public administration to serve prisoners. According to the MP, the order had no legal provision and benefited a third party. Now, the Rondônia Court of Justice (TJ-RO) will decide whether to accept the complaint. Before that, the former judge will be notified to present a defense. If the complaint is accepted, a criminal action will be opened, and he will be able to present evidence and defend himself against the accusations.
