Dairy Competition values ??local producer Moisés Bruno The 42nd Macaé Dairy Competition will be one of the main technical attractions of Expo Macaé 2026, held at the Latiff Mussi Rocha Exhibition Park. The traditional competition is structured into four categories and will bring together 30 cows, 21 from local ranchers. The contest will take place between the 25th and 28th of July, with two milkings per day, at 8am and 8pm. The award ceremony and trophy delivery will take place on the city's anniversary, July 29th, starting at 11am, with a total prize of R$22,000 per category — divided into R$10,000 for first place, R$7,000 for second and R$5,000 for third. The animals are divided into the 20 kg (young cow), 30 kg, 40 kg and Free categories, the latter aimed at competitors from neighboring municipalities. This year's regulation brings two innovations: the reduction of 5 kg in the weight limits of the categories to democratize access and encourage the participation of small local producers, and the invalidation of the first of the seven milkings (called sewage milking), a measure adopted to guarantee greater smoothness in controlling the results. The traditional competition is structured into four categories Moisés Bruno The predominant breed on the track is the Girolando — bibreeds of Gir and Holstein known for their rusticity and high productivity. The final results of the tournament will be announced at 9pm on July 28th. According to the guidelines of the Secretariat of Agroeconomics, the main objective of the event is to value the municipality's producers. The local administration points out that the contest coincides with a moment of expansion of the regional dairy basin, driven by municipal Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (IATF) programs with imported semen, supply of silage and continuous technical assistance. Milk production follows strict technical parameters Moisés Bruno Technical parameters and health control Analysis by the organizing committee indicates the high quality of the registered herd. In the competition there are young cows with an average daily production of 24 liters, while specimens in the 20 kg category can produce around 40 liters per day, accumulating 120 liters after six valid milkings. Animals in the 30 kg category must break the barrier of 180 liters accumulated. In addition to the economic focus, the event seeks to integrate families and attract the children of producers to ensure the generational relevance of the activity. Technical rigor also extends to the health and commercial use of the product. All milk milked during the four days of competition will be purchased by Cooperativa Agropecuária de Macaé Ltda (Coapem), which carries out laboratory tests to certify the purity of the food and the absence of antibiotics or chemical residues. Likewise, to enter the Exhibition Park, each cattle undergoes prior clinical examinations and mandatory tests to detect brucellosis, tuberculosis and other rural diseases.
