Man dies after car falls into river in Pará Firefighters/Reproduction A driver died after the vehicle he was driving fell into a river on the banks of BR-155, in Eldorado do Carajás, in the southeast of Pará. He was in the car with his nephew, who survived. The accident occurred near Vila Tancredo Neves on Wednesday afternoon (22) and left the passenger injured. This Thursday (23), the survivor was still under medical care. According to the survivor's report, the car was traveling from Ourém to Parauapebas when it was blocked by a truck. With the impact, the driver lost control of the steering wheel and fell into the river. The vehicle was completely submerged. Rescue teams were called to remove the car and help the victims. ? The driver was identified as Valderir Alencar Sousa, 45 years old. He did not survive and died before help arrived. His nephew, Elton Lopes Faro, aged 20, was taken to the Municipal Hospital and remains under medical supervision. Authorities must investigate the circumstances of the accident, including whether there was human error or other contributing factors.
