According to delegate Vinícius Iunes, a preliminary examination indicated that Carlos Alberto Velasco had climbed onto the roof to carry out repairs, when the structure gave way and he fell from a height of approximately three meters. With the help of the Military Police, a small staircase was checked at the back of the house, giving access to the roof, which was broken. When they accessed the structure, they saw the victim lying dead.

The case was registered as an accidental death and forwarded to the Xanxerê Regional Police Station, where the investigation continues. The city of Xanxerê published a note of condolence over the doctor's death. The wake began at 5:30 pm at Funerária Central do Luto, according to the publication.
