Conventions in Pará: see when parties must confirm candidates

Electronic ballot box Reproduction/TRE-RN The deadline for holding party conventions began this Monday (20) and, in Pará, at least 15 parties have already defined the dates for their meetings in Belém. According to the Electoral Court, the period continues until August 5th. ? Conventions are events in which political parties and federations formalize their candidates and define alliances for the 2026 elections. Members of the parties participate, deliberating on the candidates who will run for office and on the formation of coalitions — when parties come together to compete together. This year, parties must define candidates for the positions of: President Governor Senator (two vacancies per state) Federal deputy State and district deputy (in the case of DF) How the meetings work Each party has the autonomy to decide the date and format of the conventions, which can take place in person, virtually or hybridly. In the case of party federations — when two or more parties work together for at least four years — conventions are held in a unified manner.
