The property, located in Praça Porto Rocha, was expropriated by the municipality and should be used in a revitalization project in the region. According to city hall, the building had been abandoned for years. Comsercaf teams worked on Thursday (23) and Friday (24) to remove rubble, old furniture and other materials accumulated at the site. Also according to the municipal administration, access to the property was closed to prevent new irregular occupations and preserve the site's safety conditions. In a video published on social media, Mayor Dr. Serginho stated that the intention is to install municipal departments in the building that currently operate in other parts of the city. According to the mayor, the change should increase the circulation of people in the Center and contribute to strengthening local commerce. He also stated that the project foresees the creation of new parking spaces to meet demand in the region.
