One of the cases occurred in an establishment on the Lameira Bittencourt crossing. In just two days, trader Paulo Lima had two bicycles stolen from the premises. Security circuit images show the moment a man opens the gate and leaves pushing one of the bicycles. "I found that his lock wasn't in the right place. That's when I realized that they had taken one of the bicycles on a Monday. The next day they took the other bicycle", said the trader. According to Paulo, the loss was around R$1,500. That same morning, the suspect also tried to steal self-employed Célia Costa's bicycle, which was stored in the courtyard of her house. After he told me, I deduced that maybe he was the one who tried to open it. He managed to open the padlock, but he couldn't open the lock," he reported. According to residents, the man usually acts at night and uses a tool to open padlocks without making any noise. Caregiver Cidália Parente claims that she had already seen the suspect circulating around the neighborhood weeks before the thefts. "I had seen him before, almost a month ago, coming from house to house with something in his hand. I can't say what it was. He was always testing the houses and, when they didn't have padlocks, he jumped. I believe that this tool was to open the padlocks", he stated.
