Maria da Penha Law turns 20 Disclosure Cabo Frio will have a special program during Agosto Lilás, a national campaign to raise awareness and combat violence against women. Throughout the month, lectures, workshops, social actions, cultural activities and mobilizations will be promoted aimed at preventing gender-based violence and strengthening the support network for women. The campaign marks the 20th anniversary of the Maria da Penha Law, celebrated on August 7th. Considered one of the main instruments for combating domestic and family violence against women in Brazil, the legislation inspires the programming organized by the municipality. The activities begin on August 4th with the delivery of the Women's Friendly Company Seal, which recognizes companies that develop actions to value, include and protect women in the workplace. ? On the 7th and 8th of August, the first edition of FestMulher Cabo Frio will be held. On the 7th, the Estácio de Sá University auditorium will host lectures, mentoring and consultancy focused on female entrepreneurship. The following day, Largo São Benedito will host a fair with gastronomy, crafts, cultural presentations, live music and the Quintal das Artes exhibition. On August 12th, Praça do Jardim Esperança will host workshops, social services, psychosocial and legal guidance, haircuts, eyebrow design, self-defense classes, cultural presentations and Blitz Maria da Penha. The same program will be held on August 26th, at the Ginásio Poliesportivo de Unamar, in Tamoios. On August 28th, Praça da Prefeitura will host a program with cultural presentations, self-defense classes and Blitz Maria da Penha. The program will end on August 29th with the action "Taking Care of Who Cares", aimed at municipal employees. The meeting will be held at Lido – Águas de Gáia and will feature surfing lessons and a coffee break. All activities are free and open to the public.
