Flavio Vaz, author of the book 'Between the wind and the secret' Disclosure “Between the Wind and the Secret” arrives as an invitation to the past, and to the truth that pulses in those who dare to love. The historical novel by the Divinopolitan author Flávio Vaz Calderaro, which will be released this Monday (13), transports the reader to the beginning of the 20th century, crossing the streets of Brás, in São Paulo, and the elegant salons of Barcelona, up to the deck of the transatlantic Príncipe de Asturias. At the center of the plot are Marcus, a young shoeshine boy, and Pedro, a businessman trapped in a marriage of appearances. Together, they live a relationship that challenges customs, addressing courage, belonging and new beginnings ? Asturias, which took place in 1916, as a symbolic and narrative axis. It is from this context that the characters' intimate dilemmas and the choices that lead them to transform their lives are revealed. According to Flávio, the story took shape from an image: the ship loaded with lives. I was imagining how many stories, dreams, goodbyes and new beginnings that ship carried", said the author. Regarding the creative process, Flávio was careful to explain the balance between historical rigor and emotion. "There were years of research and writing. I tried to reconstruct the scenarios, customs and social context of the time so that the reader felt within that reality. But, above all, I wanted to write a story that moves." For him, the historical facts support the plot, but it is the characters and their feelings that hold the reader until the last page. The work is not limited to a romance between two people; it exposes the social profile of the time — the intolerance, the conventions and the masks that many were forced to wear. Flávio recalled that the intention was for the story to dialogue with this context. "Based on this curiosity, I began extensive research. Little by little, I realized that I wanted to tell a love story that also dialogued with this historical context." The launch in Divinópolis was carefully thought out. The choice of the Municipal Public Library Ataliba Lago as the stage was not by chance. For the author, the space has emotional and cultural significance. "In addition to being part of my history, this space is, indisputably, the cultural heart of Divinópolis, a reading refuge that keeps the flame of imagination alive in our city", said Flávio. The launch night, scheduled for July 13th, at 7:30 pm, promises to involve the public. The program includes a dramatized reading of an excerpt from the book, which will give voice to Marcus and Pedro's dilemmas, followed by an autograph session. Copies will be for sale on site, and the author will make dedications and talk to readers.
