Action brings blood donation closer to the population of Nova Brasilândia D'Oeste and expands access to a gesture that can save lives. Advisory/Credisis CrediBrás When the CrediSIS CrediBrás blood and bone marrow donation campaign began in 2022, the objective was to bring an essential service closer to the residents of Nova Brasilândia D'Oeste, a municipality in the Central Region of Rondônia that does not have a permanent collection unit. Five editions later, the initiative demonstrates that cooperation can also be measured by continuity. On July 10th and 11th, the campaign collected 117 bags of blood, in addition to new registrations for potential bone marrow donors, reaffirming a commitment that remains year after year and benefits patients across the state. The result goes beyond the number of bags collected. By transforming a one-off action into a permanent commitment, the campaign became part of the cooperative's and the community's calendar. With each new edition, residents return to donate again and others participate for the first time, joining the movement and expanding a collectively built solidarity network. In a municipality where, normally, those who wish to donate need to travel more than 60 kilometers to Rolim de Moura, bringing the structure of the Rondônia Hematology and Hemotherapy Foundation (Fhemeron) to Nova Brasilândia reduces barriers, encourages new donors and demonstrates how cooperation can generate benefits that remain even after the campaign ends. The president of the CrediSIS System, Otelo Castellani Filho, highlighted that initiatives like this show that cooperativism produces impacts that go beyond the moment in which they happen. For him, when a cooperative creates conditions for the community to participate in a collective cause, it contributes to building a culture of solidarity capable of continually transforming lives. "When we bring an essential service closer to people, we are not just running a campaign. We are creating opportunities for solidarity to be part of the community's routine. Cooperativism leaves marks that remain, because it encourages care for others, awakens the feeling of belonging and shows that small attitudes, repeated over the years, are capable of producing lasting changes. This is a development that continues to generate results long after the action ends", stated Otelo. Volunteers participated in the fifth edition of the campaign, held at Escola Aurélio Buarque, in an action built by cooperation between institutions and the community. Advisory/Credisis CrediBrás The campaign also highlights that the legacy built over the five editions is directly linked to the people who decided to turn donation into a habit. Many of the participants return every year, helping to keep supplies stocked and inspiring family, friends and new volunteers to do the same. Among them is Mayra Queiroz Gorza, who has been making donations since 2002, and, over the years, has followed the growth of the campaign in Nova Brasilândia D'Oeste and believes that each new edition increases the population's awareness of the importance of this gesture. "I started donating blood as soon as I reached the age and the necessary requirements, and I never stopped. I always say that it is a simple, quick gesture and carried out by prepared professionals, who welcome each donor with great care. We often don't imagine the impact that a few minutes can have on another person's life. A single bag can save up to four lives, which is why I invite more and more people to be part of this chain of solidarity", said Mayra. Carrying out the campaign also depends on the union between different institutions, in addition to the participation of employees and volunteers who contributed to receiving donors during the two days of mobilization. The Administrative and Risk Director of CrediSIS CrediBrás, Mirian Silva, highlighted that the result achieved demonstrates how cooperation between institutions and the community allows a social action to become permanent and continue to benefit a region. "This campaign only happens because different institutions believe in the same purpose and walk together in favor of life. We thank the Municipality of Nova Brasilândia D'Oeste, the Municipal Health Department, Fhemeron de Rolim de Moura, our collaborators, volunteers and, above all, each person who dedicated a few minutes of their day to donate blood", thanked Mirian. Blood and Bone Marrow Donation Campaign Created in 2022, the CrediSIS CrediBrás Blood and Bone Marrow Donation Campaign was created to bring collection closer to the residents of Nova Brasilândia d'Oeste, eliminating a difficulty faced by those who needed to travel to another municipality to donate. Since then, the initiative has brought together the cooperative, public authorities, health professionals, volunteers and the community around the same objective, consolidating a network of solidarity that is renewed every year.
