Beyond the show: series of mini-documentaries delves into the universe of the bois-bumbás Photo: Disclosure The culture of the bois-bumbás of Parintins goes far beyond the performances in the Bumbódromo arena. With the aim of broadening our perspective on the traditions, spaces and people that keep this cultural event alive throughout the year, the ' Vamos Brincar de Boi ' project produced a special series of six mini-documentaries dedicated to the behind-the-scenes and memories that make up the universe of the Parintins Folklore Festival. The production integrates the actions developed by the Fundação Rede Amazônica to enhance the Amazonian cultural heritage and presents the public with stories, characters and places that help to build the identity of the bois-bumbás far beyond the three days of the show. The episodes cover different aspects of Parintina culture, including a visit to the Bumbódromo outside the festival period, the work of the artists responsible for the allegories of the Caprichoso and Garantido oxen, the tradition of the Ladainha do Boi Garantido and the corrals of the two associations, spaces considered true centers of cultural production and preservation of popular memory. ? For the Programming Manager of Grupo Rede Amazônica, Lemmos Ribeiro, the purpose of the mini-documentaries is to show the public that the culture of the bois-bumbás remains alive throughout every month of the year and is built daily by hundreds of people. "We wanted to present Parintins beyond the festival and the presentations in the arena, showing aspects of culture, tradition and everyday life that can be experienced at any time of the year. There are characters, spaces and cultural manifestations that are part of this identity and that also deserve protagonism. Recording these stories is a way of contributing to the preservation of cultural memory and recognizing the work of those who keep this tradition alive on a daily basis", he states. According to Lemmos, communication platforms play a fundamental role in valuing and disseminating these stories to new audiences. "Open television and digital platforms expand the reach of these narratives, strengthen the region's cultural identity and spark interest so that more people get to know and value Parintins throughout the year, and not just during the festival period", he highlights. The mini-documentaries were shown between the 1st and 6th of July, shortly after the end of the 2026 Parintins Folklore Festival. The series was broadcast on Amazon Sat programming and also made available on the official Amazon Sat and Fundação Rede Amazônica channels on YouTube. About Vamos Brincar de Boi " Vamos Brincar de Boi " is an initiative of the Fundação Rede Amazônica, with support from the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of Amazonas, the Amazon Agency for Cultural Development (AADC) and the Government of Amazonas. The project seeks to strengthen the appreciation of Amazonian popular culture, preserve collective memory and expand access to the traditions of the Parintins Folklore Festival through educational, cultural and informative content displayed on the different platforms of the Grupo Rede Amazônica.
