Creator of the Caminho da Fé dies The National Sanctuary of Aparecida will honor this Friday (17) the founder of the Caminho da Fé, Almiro José Grings, who died at the age of 85. His name will be included in the intentions of this afternoon's mass, in recognition of the legacy left to one of the country's main pilgrimage routes. Almiro would have turned 86 this Saturday (18) and was hospitalized in São João da Boa Vista, where he died. The cause was not disclosed. Inspired by the experience, he designed, in 2003, the route that connects cities in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais to the National Sanctuary, in Aparecida. Over 23 years, the route has established itself as one of the main references in Brazilian religious tourism. With Águas da Prata as the main starting point, the route was recognized by law as a federal tourist route and gained new branches in different cities. Currently, the Caminho da Fé passes through 21 municipalities, with departures from cities such as São Carlos, Tambaú, Leme, Mococa and Caconde. Every year, thousands of pilgrims travel the route in search of spirituality, reflection, personal overcoming and self-knowledge. In a note of condolence, the Caminho da Fé Association stated that the founder's legacy will live on among the pilgrims. According to the entity, the project has become a symbol of hope and transformation, in addition to contributing to the development of local communities and the strengthening of sustainable tourism.
