Film about a meeting between Mario Quintana and a photographer comes to life in Porto Alegre One of the most notable names in Gaucho literature returns to the spotlight of the screen in a production inspired by a real meeting. The recording of the feature film Minha Sombra Luminosa takes place in the year in which Mario Quintana would have turned 120, a milestone celebrated this Thursday (30). The film portrays the relationship between the poet Mario Quintana, then 79 years old, and the photographer Liane Neves, who was 24 years old when she received the mission to record images of the already renowned writer. ? On one side, Quintana, recognized by the public and for the work built over the decades. On the other, a young professional who was trying to make room in her career at a time when photography was dominated by men. The relationship between the two is not linear: it starts with difficulties, evolves into an approximation and faces obstacles again along the way. According to screenwriter and director Tomás Fleck, the narrative shows the challenges faced by Liane when given the opportunity to photograph one of the greatest icons of Brazilian culture. "It's each person's parallel life. She really wants to work and has difficulty working, because she is a 24-year-old girl in the 80s, a woman at a time when practically all photographers were men", says Fleck. The recordings took place in Porto Alegre over 22 days and brought together more than 500 people. To recreate the atmosphere of the 1980s, the team needed to delve into intense research into costumes and accessories from the time. The work included around 40 days of searching for pieces that would help reconstruct the period portrayed in the film. Actress Klara Castanho plays Liane Neves. During filming, she highlighted the permanent presence of Mario Quintana in the daily life of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. For the actress, the poet's work is still alive and continues to impact different generations, even decades after his death. "It's very special for us to be in Porto Alegre and see how present Mario is in everyday life. It's been 32 years since he passed away and he's a living work, he's constant, he directly affects people's lives", says the actress. In addition to the costume, the actor went through a careful characterization process to assume the writer's identity. There are few who have Mario's charisma." The last sequence of the film was recorded at Farol Santander, in the center of Porto Alegre. The scene reproduces an exhibition of photographs by Liane Neves and was attended by more than a hundred people. Among them was the photographer herself, who appears as an extra. The cast also includes Julia Lemmertz, who plays Francisca, a fictional character responsible for an art gallery. For Tomás, the fascination with Mario Quintana spans time. The director believes that the writer's work remains current and continues to arouse the interest of audiences of different ages, whether through shared phrases, tattoos, music or adaptations into other artistic languages.
