Here's the first surprise of this transfer window. Ronald Araújo is one step away from moving to Liverpool, after a silent and rumor-free negotiation with Barcelona, ??which managed to get rid of one of the highest-paid players in the squad.

The information was released by journalist Fabrizio Romano, a specialist in matters related to the transfer market, this Friday. Sporting director Deco has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the Reds to complete the player's loan until the end of the current season.

The deal should include a non-obligatory purchase option, if Liverpool are interested in keeping the Uruguayan national team defender after the end of his loan. The English club will also be responsible for paying the player's salary in full during this period.

In this way, the Anfield club is able to replace Ibrahima Konaté on the right side of defense, after the Frenchman transferred to Real Madrid free of charge at the end of his contract. Ronald Araújo is expected to be a starter at the start of the season for Liverpool, alongside Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.

It is worth remembering that Ronald Araújo arrived at Barcelona in the 2018/19 season, coming from the Uruguayan club Boston River, for around 4.7 million euros. The defender was part of the Catalan club's B team in his first two seasons.

In eight years wearing the Catalan club's shirt, the 27-year-old played 257 games for the different Barcelona teams, scoring 20 goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

Barcelona active on several fronts in the market

Barcelona managed to convince Rodri to move to Catalonia instead of going to Real Madrid, with the player's “yes” having already been given this Friday, according to the international press.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a specialist in the transfer market, the Spanish midfielder was convinced to move to Barça, and negotiations between the two clubs are already underway. Manchester City is asking for more than the 45 million euros that Barcelona is willing to pay, while the international press claims that the English club wants at least 60 million euros to negotiate the captain of the Spanish national team.

The Blaugrana club are confident that they will be able to sign the best player of the 2026 World Cup, strengthening the midfield of Hansi Flick's team for the new season.

Rodri also won the Ballon d'Or in 2024. Despite having spent part of last season sidelined due to physical problems, he has always been one of the most influential players in Pep Guardiola's Manchester City scheme.
