The goals in the match were scored by Samuel Lino and Bruno Henrique for Flamengo, and Sebástian Driussi, twice, for River Plate.
The duel was important to mark Jorginho's return. The midfielder has not played since Flamengo's 3-0 defeat to Palmeiras, on May 23, at Maracanã, in the Brazilian Championship, due to a fracture in the big toe of his right foot.
The friendly also symbolized Lorran's return to Flamengo, after a loan period spent at Pisa, in Italy.
Without being able to count on nine athletes who are or participated in the World Cup with their respective teams, coach Leonardo Jardim started the confrontation with what he has to offer at the moment.
The Portuguese coach completed the squad with some youngsters from the youth teams promoted to participate in the tour.
In the series of friendlies in Portugal, Flamengo returns to the field at 4:30 pm (Brasília time) next Wednesday (8) to face Lausanne-Sport, from Switzerland. The last Flamengo match in Portuguese lands will be against Benfica, on the 11th, at 3:30 pm (Brasília time).
Still during the interseason, Flamengo will play another friendly against Olímpia, from Paraguay, on the 17th, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília.
FLAMENGO IS BETTER, BUT VACILATES
After 35 days, Flamengo returned to the field and showed a good volume of play. Despite being full of absences, Leonardo Jardim's men controlled the action in the first half.
Still, due to a passing error by Jorginho in the defense field, it was up to River Plate to open the scoring with Sebástian Driussi.
More attentive after the hesitation that left the team at a disadvantage, Flamengo intensified its offensive behavior and turned the game around with goals from Samuel Lino and Bruno Henrique.
Four minutes later, however, Sebástian Driussi tried to tie the friendly again after a well-worked play by the Argentine team. After the break, with the various substitutions on both teams, the game lost in intensity and, consequently, in emotion. Goalkeepers became basically spectators without being required to do so.
