Harry Kane makes no secret of the fact that his main goal is to win the World Cup with the English team. On the eve of the clash against Norway in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, the Bayern Munich striker participated in a press conference alongside coach Thomas Tuchel and recalled an unusual experience off the pitch: a game of golf with Donald Trump.

"To be honest, I played well. It was 18 months ago. He invited me when I was in Palm Beach. When the president of the United States extends an invitation and you meet him, it's a surreal experience," said the player.

Kane also praised Trump's performance in sports and said he was grateful for the opportunity.

"He plays very well. I hope I can play like that when I'm his age. It was a unique experience, and I'm very grateful for the invitation he gave me," he said.

The meeting between the attacker and the American president only became public this week. After England's 3-2 victory over Mexico, in the round of 16 of the World Cup, Trump used the social network Truth Social to congratulate the team and highlight the number 9.

“He’s a fantastic player,” he wrote.

Trump later said he had shared the golf course with the 32-year-old Englishman.

"I played golf with him and I really liked him. He's a good golfer, very good indeed", declared the President of the United States.

Kane praises Haaland before decisive duel

The match between England and Norway will also put two of the main center forwards in world football face to face. When commenting on the confrontation with Erling Haaland, Kane stated that the two have different characteristics, despite playing in the same area of ??the field.

"I think we are completely different players. I know we are both attackers, but, in fact, we occupy almost different positions on the field", he explained.

The English captain classified Haaland as a “machine” and highlighted the Norwegian’s physical ability and finishing power.

"Erling is incredible. His number of goals speaks for itself. Physically, he is a true machine, a true force of nature. His finishing is at the highest level, and the numbers he presents say it all", he praised.

Kane stated that he tends to participate more in the construction of plays, although he can also act as a reference inside the area.

“I see myself as a different player, even though I also score goals. I like to have more contact with the ball and participate more in the construction of the game, but I can also act as a more fixed center forward. I don't think it makes sense to compare us", he said.

The striker still showed respect for his opponent, but admitted he hoped that Haaland would not have a good performance against England.

"I have enormous respect for him, both as a player and as a professional. Obviously, I hope he has a less inspired day, but, overall, the level of his performances is very high. He's a fantastic player", he concluded.

England and Norway face each other this Saturday (11), at 6pm, Brasília time, in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup. The winner will face in the semi-final whoever advances from the duel between Argentina and Switzerland, scheduled for 10pm this Saturday.

The other semi-final has already been defined and will be played by France and Spain on Tuesday.
