(UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Corinthians will play an important role in the negotiations for the creation of a single league in Brazilian football. The club will be one of the representatives of the Futebol Forte União (FFU) committee responsible for conducting conversations with the CBF and clubs that are not part of the bloc about the creation of an independent national championship.

WHAT HAPPENED

Football executive Marcelo Paz will represent Corinthians in this working group. UOL found that the FFU condominium considers Timão to be an important player in these negotiations, mainly due to the club's position in the Brazilian football scene.

Although not part of the FFU condominium, Corinthians negotiated the latest broadcasting rights contract with the block and is treated as a partner of the collective. Internally, Futebol Forte União considers that this independent position facilitates the club's movement both with entities and teams that are not part of the bloc and with the CBF itself.

The report also found that the relationship between President Osmar Stábile and the highest governing body of Brazilian football is considered positive. Stábile did not participate in the FFU meeting held this Thursday, at the headquarters of the São Paulo Football Federation, for family reasons, and was represented by Marcelo Paz.

FFU DEFINE STRATEGY FOR ACTION ON CADE

During the meeting, the FFU decided to hire an independent lawyer to defend the clubs' interests in relation to the ongoing process at the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade). The body pointed out the existence of practices that could violate competition legislation in the bloc's regulations.

According to the report, it was decided that the clubs' situations and demands will be dealt with individually. The strategy seeks to allow each association to present its arguments independently within the process.

On June 27, Corinthians notified the FFU through a document signed by president Osmar Stábile. In the text, the club expresses concern about possible disrespect for competition legislation and considers leaving the negotiation of broadcasting rights led by the collective.
