The winning goal was scored by Ferran Torres, who came off the bench and found the net in the 106th minute. With the 1-0 victory in extra time, the Spanish team repeated the feat of 2010, when they also won the final by the same score in extra time, against the Netherlands, with a goal from Andrés Iniesta.
With their second title, Spain equaled Uruguay, champion in 1930 and 1950, and France, winner in 1998 and 2018. The team still remains far from the five titles won by Brazil.
