The impasse involving Vinícius Júnior has come to an end, as Real Madrid announced the renewal of the contract with the Brazilian striker. This Thursday, after Yan Diomande became official, the Merengue club once again released news about the squad with the confirmation that José Mourinho will be able to continue counting on one of the team's stars.

Through an official statement, Real Madrid reported that it had reached an agreement with the striker to extend his contract for another six seasons, until June 2032.

The last few weeks have been marked by speculation in the international press, which even reported that the Brazilian could leave the Merengue club.

In reality, Vinícius Júnior only had a contract with Real Madrid until the end of the next season, which is why the club presented a renewal proposal. The striker took a while to respond and made some financial demands before deciding to stay at the club.

The board led by Florentino Pérez, however, decided that it was not willing to do “crazy things” for the player so as not to unbalance the salary bill. As a result, the two parties reached an impasse. In this context, Arsenal appeared as one of the clubs interested in a possible signing of the striker.

Rumors indicated that the Gunners would be willing to present a proposal of 160 million euros, which further increased the uncertainty regarding the player's future.

Real Madrid, however, understood that losing Vinícius Júnior was not in José Mourinho's plans for the upcoming season. With that, the club returned to the negotiating table and reached an agreement with the player, allowing the renewal to be completed.

It is worth remembering that the possibility of leaving Real Madrid was considered because Vinícius Júnior only had a contract with the club until the end of the following season. This means that, if the player wanted to leave the team, the club could try to negotiate him in this summer transfer window, guaranteeing some financial return before an eventual free exit.

At 26 years old, Vinícius Júnior will start his ninth season at Real Madrid, after being signed in 2018 from Flamengo for 45 million euros. At the time, just 18 years old, the Brazilian striker worked to earn his place in the squad and, little by little, became one of the team's main players.

In total, the Brazilian won three Spanish Championship titles, two Champions Leagues and two Club World Cups.

Currently, Vinícius Júnior is one of the most important players in the Merengue squad and could further reinforce this status this season, now under the command of José Mourinho.
