The change was communicated by the organization on social media. "Due to the agenda and commitments made with the new club, Rio Innovation Week confirms the participation of goalkeeper Vozinha in an online format on August 6th", informed the event.
The change provoked complaints from the public. Online, internet users said they bought tickets hoping to meet the goalkeeper, take photos and follow the talk up close. "Wow, I spent 900 reais on the passport just to be able to see it live and now (crying emojis)", lamented a follower. "I can't believe it. I had asked for time off. I wanted to see Vozinha up close", commented another.
Born Josimar José Évora Dias, Vozinha adopted the nickname when he was still a child. According to the goalkeeper, the name came about as a provocation from older boys with whom he played football, but ended up being given a new meaning throughout his career and became his brand on and off the field.
The goalkeeper is one of the biggest names in the recent history of Cape Verdean football. A long-time member of the national team, he played in the African Cup of Nations and gained international recognition during the tournament in the United States, when his performances caught the attention of fans and the sports press. The repercussion opened new commercial opportunities and consolidated his image as one of the main ambassadors of Cape Verdean sport.
At Rio Innovation Week, Vozinha will talk about personal brand management in the digital economy, sharing how she transformed her career in football and the visibility gained on the field into business opportunities and strengthening her public image.
