Ney Matogrosso states that he created the album with songs by Angela Ro Ro (1949 – 2025) before the death of the artist Bob Wolfenson / Disclosure ? NEWS ? Ney Matogrosso turns 85 on Saturday, August 1st, with an album on the horizon. The singer is preparing an album with songs from the repertoire of Rio de Janeiro singer, composer and pianist Angela Ro Ro (December 5, 1949 – September 8, 2025), who died last year at the age of 75. Timely, the phonographic project unites two artists whose lives are marked by transgression. It is worth remembering that, on his sixth solo album, “Sujeito Strange”, released in 1980, Ney recorded two songs by Angela Ro Ro, “Balada da rasada” and “Não Há Cabedo”, both presented the previous year in the author's hoarse voice on the artist's debut album, “Angela Ro Ro” (1979). However, since then, Ney has never recorded the composer's songs again, although he has shared the stage with Ro Ro on a few occasions. When announcing in October 2025 his desire to record the songbook with songs by Angela Ro Ro, in an interview with Rádio França Internacional (RFI), Ney emphasized that he had the idea for the album before the artist's death. And the fact is that, according to Ney's biographer, journalist Julio Maria, the album will go beyond ideas, expanding the singer's discography, whose last album, “Nu com a minha Música” (2021), was released five years ago.
