On Friday, August 7th, Lucas Bezerra releases his first album, 'Eu mandei meu amor pro Espaço', dedicated to the songbook of Paraíba composer Totonho Luciano Pedro Jr / Disclosure ? NEWS ? Born in 1964 in Monteiro (PB), in Cariri, Paraíba, singer and composer Carlos Antonio Bezerra da Silva had already had a band since he was nine years old, Os Renegados. When he migrated to João Pessoa (PB) in 1982, at 18, the artist acted as a cultural agitator, bringing together composers from Paraíba. Furthermore, in 1988, Carlos Antonio began residing in the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). But it was only in 2001, the year in which he released his first original album with musical production by Carlos Eduardo Miranda (1962 – 2018), that the singer and composer gained some national recognition, now under the nickname Totonho e os Cabra. Still, after the release of Totonho and Cabra's second album in 2005, “Sabotador de satellites”, Totonho's career lost its national scope. For this reason, the decision of Lucas Bezerra – a singer from Ceará who debuted on the music market in 2020 and released the EP “Trânsito” (2021) the following year – to dedicate his first album, “Eu mandei meu amor pro Espaço”, to the Totonho songbook, is salutary and surprising. Conceived between 2021 and 2022 and recorded between 2023 and 2026, in an intercontinental movement that covered cities in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Maceió and João Pessoa), Denmark (Copenhagen), Sweden (Malmö), the album “Eu mandei meu amor pro Espaço” arrives in the digital world on Friday, August 7th, with nine songs from the northeastern and universal song of Totonho sung by Lucas Bezerra with musical production by Arthus Fochi. Bezerra's selection covers Totonho's best-known song, “Nhem nhem nhem” (2001), recorded with the five-voice choir from the contemporary Paraíba scene (Chico Limeira, Elon, Nathalia Bellar, Nina Ferreira and Titá Moura). The title song “I sent my love to space” (2005) features the singing of Zé Ibarra. “Rosa da matinha” (2016) blossoms with the voice of Geraldo Azevedo and evolves in the cadence of the xote in a recording previously released on July 24th as the second single from the album “Eu mandei meu amor pro Espaço”. The initial sample of the project was the single “O arqueiro zen” (2018), recorded by Lucas with Rita Benneditto, a singer connected with Totonho’s work. With songs like “Vai nevar” (2018) and “Meu amor é caso” (2023), the album “Eu mandei meu amor pro Espaço” embeds Totonho’s voice in the quote from the song “Roendo unha” (Luiz Gonzaga and Luiz Ramalho, 1976) included in the track “Amassar a lataria” (2018).
