The information was released by the actor's agent to the Associated Press this Thursday (30). The Hollywood star also sent a letter to Didier Bremond, mayor of the town of Brignoles, about 90 kilometers (55 miles) east of Marseille. "At this time, we have no idea if our beautiful home will survive this terrible time and as we evacuate Brignoles," the letter reads. According to the text, the family wanted to emphasize "two things": "First, we hope that you and the people of our town are safe and, second, that Amal [Clooney, the actor's wife] and I are committed to ensuring that, whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and will be part of its reconstruction", wrote The fire near Brignoles started on Wednesday afternoon and burned around 100 hectares (247 acres), local authorities said. The blaze was much smaller than the fire that has devastated the region around Bordeaux in southwestern France in recent days. Around 700 residents were evacuated and allowed to return to their homes on Thursday after the fire was brought under control. Firefighting helicopters remained over the area after the evacuation order was lifted, the regional administration said. The agency said weather conditions remained unfavorable, with high temperatures and winds expected to intensify again in the afternoon. The French government announced in December that the Clooneys, along with their twin children Ella and Alexander, had received French citizenship. The couple purchased their property in France in 2021. In an interview with "Esquire" last October, Clooney described his "farm in France" as his primary residence.
