Three years after having fun with the artist's album, “Carnaval chanson” (2023), the band Eddie returns to the original track with the repertoire of the Pernambuco group's 11th album, “Noturna”, an album that has won the world since tomorrow, Sunday, August 2nd, with a cover featuring the quartet in a photo by Ravaneli Souza. Band formed in Olinda (PE) in 1989, Eddie has 11 songs on this 11th album in 37 years of activity. Ten are written by vocalist, guitarist and composer Fabio Trummer – two of which, the salsa “Tudo Pode Se” and the psychedelic bolero “Noturna”, are partnerships with Samuel Mota, co-producer of the album – while the eleventh song, “Poema da Paz”, is written by Erasto Vasconcelos (1947 – 2016), a composer and arranger from Pernambuco who died ten years ago. “Poema da Paz” closes “Noturna”, an album in which Fabio Trummer (voice, guitar and acoustic guitar), André Oliveira (keyboards and trumpet), Rob Meira (bass) and Kiko Meira (drums) increase the dose of Latinity in the already usually festive and expansive repertoire of the band Eddie. The cumbia “I'm going to call my people” exemplifies this Latin movement of the group on the album “Noturna”, with forays into folk-style reggae on the track “The end” and the mix of frevo with caboclinho with a rock feel heard in “Saudade da folia”. However, the rhythmic range of the repertoire of “Noturna” is wide and includes ballads (“Mute poem” and “Outra solitude”, this one with the voice of singer Júlia Carvalho), flirtation with bossa nova in the song “A tua Verdade” and even a calming song, “Titi and Tom Tom”. “The musical references of ‘Noturna’ range from post punk to French chanson, including surf music from the 1960s, bossa nova, classical Latinities, jazz, Depeche Mode, pop and Elton John… But always seeking our identity above possible homages to our musical heroes”, highlights Fabio Trummer, the only remaining member of Eddie’s original lineup.
