One of the great references of funk produced in the Western pop universe from the 1960s onwards, the music of North American singer and composer James Brown (1933 – 2006) echoes in the pulse of “Toc toc”, a song that names Ed Motta’s 15th studio album, the first recorded by the Rio artist in Portuguese since “AOR” (2013), an album released 13 years ago. With other echoes in the authorial repertoire that also reverberates influences from the swing of João Donato (1934 – 2023) and Marcos Valle in “A Marina acida” and the electro-funk of the groups Cameo and Surface in “Eu Só Quero ser Feliz”, the album “Toc toc” is scheduled for release on September 25th. Other songs from the new and original repertoire of the album “Toc toc” are “Casa de frontal pro mar” (with the artist on the bossa nova beach), “Grande plano” and “Não tem contradição”. Recorded with musical production orchestrated by Ed Motta himself with Michel Limma, the album “Toc toc” will be released by Ed's record label, Dwitza, in partnership with the German label MPS, and will be released on LP and CD in Europe and Japan, in addition to the digital edition.
