Zanin authorizes PF investigation into STJ minister in inquiry investigating sale of decisions
(FOLHAPRESS) - Minister Cristiano Zanin, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), authorized the Federal Police to investigate minister Moura Ribeiro, of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), in an investigation into the sale...
He is the first STJ minister investigated in the case, whose investigations have been pending in the Supreme Court since 2024.
The investigation points to decisions by the minister suspected of having a relationship with lobbyist Andreson de Oliviera Gonçalves and his wife, Mirian Ribeiro, as well as transfers to an employee who worked in his office in 2019, and left the court in 2021.
When contacted through the STJ's press office, Moura Ribeiro said that he "is unaware of the existence of an investigation into decisions he has made."
"The civil servant cited by the newspaper acted as a 'plenary assistant' from 01/30/2019 to 06/16/2019, having previously worked in another office, and was dismissed from the role after irregular performance, at the request of the Minister himself."
"A judge for more than four decades, Minister Moura Ribeiro has an honorable career and emphasizes that any attempts to associate him with criminal acts are completely unfounded."
Andreson and Mirian's defense always denied that he had committed irregularities. When contacted, their lawyer, Eugênio Pacelli, says that "the search for some authority to legitimize the continued jurisdiction of the STF" is not surprising and that the PF itself says that it still does not have enough elements to conclude whether the minister committed irregularities. The special forum for members of the STJ is in the Supreme Court.
Information about Zanin's decision was initially released by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and confirmed by Folha.
The STJ employee who worked for Moura Ribeiro was an assistant at court sessions, called a “capinha”. Other ministers were already surprised by the official's conduct at the time of his work on the court. An administrative proceeding was opened against him and the STJ decided to dismiss him.
In May, the PGR (Attorney General's Office) denounced nine people in the investigation into suspected sales of judicial decisions at the STJ.
Among those reported are Andreson and Mirian. A former STJ employee who worked in several offices, and the former chief of staff of minister Isabel Gallotti, were also denounced.
Until that moment, no minister of the court was investigated, and the complaint does not mention any member of the court.
Italian deputy says Carla Zambelli is missing
Angelo Bonelli claims that the former deputy has not been seen publicly since a meeting in Rome. The Italian court annulled the decision authorizing the extradition and ordered that the Brazilian request be analyzed again.
