PF: Flávio Bolsonaro clarifies attacks on Lula in writing

Flávio is being investigated on suspicion of having committed slander against Lula in a publication made in January on his social networks, following the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, then dictator of Venezuela, by the United States government. The Federal Police point out that the senator falsely accused Lula of committing crimes.

"Lula will be denounced. This is the end of the São Paulo Forum: international drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering, support for terrorists and dictatorships, rigged elections", says the publication.

Flávio's defense claims that there is no slander in the publication, which brings true news about Maduro's arrest and "two separate and independent comments".

"The first was just a prediction about something that could happen in the future, without attributing any concrete fact to the President of the Republic. The second referred to Nicolás Maduro and simply repeated the accusations that the United States Court formally imputes to him", states the lawyers' note.

"Flávio Bolsonaro reaffirms his confidence in institutions and, at the same time, expresses concern about initiatives that seek to judicialize the political conflict and impose undue restrictions on the exercise of freedom of expression guaranteed by the Federal Constitution", completes the text.
