The São Paulo Military Police arrested a man suspected of involvement in the attempted murder of Rota lieutenant Ronickson Pimentel dos Santos, shot in the head in São Caetano do Sul, in Greater São Paulo. He was arrested on Tuesday night, the 7th. According to the police, the man is not responsible for the shooting, but would have participated in the action.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the suspect was located by a Rota team in the Ipiranga neighborhood, in the south zone of the capital. During the approach, he confirmed his involvement in the crime and informed that he had disposed of the motorcycle used by the perpetrators of the attack near Heliópolis.

The man was taken to the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), where an arrest warrant was served, and remains at the disposal of the Court.

Ronickson is the older brother of Eloá Pimentel, who died in 2008 in what became known as the longest kidnapping in the history of São Paulo. He was shot at on Avenida Goiás on June 27. Initially rescued by rescue teams, the lieutenant was taken to the hospital by the corporation's Águia helicopter. After undergoing highly complex neurological surgery, he remains hospitalized in a serious but stable condition.

The motivation for the attack on the lieutenant and the participation of others involved continue to be investigated. Security camera footage shows Ronickson stopped with the motorcycle at a traffic light when two men, also on a motorcycle, approach. Moments later, the police officer is hit by gunfire and falls to the ground. In addition to the man arrested this Tuesday, two other men, aged 40 and 52, are already in prison.

Last Sunday, the 5th, the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) announced a reward of R$50,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of Hércules da Costa Siqueira. This Tuesday, he was included on Interpol's fugitive list. Considered a fugitive, Siqueira could be captured anywhere in the world if he leaves Brazil.
