According to the Military Police, a man approached a vehicle stopped at a traffic light and broke the window to steal belongings, around 6:45 am.
The PM who was on his way to work and witnessed the scene intervened. He shot at the robber, who appeared to be armed. Fire Department teams were called to help, but the man died at the scene.
During the treatment, the teams discovered that the criminal was carrying a fake gun.
Shortly before, a woman had called a GCM (Municipal Civil Guard) vehicle and said that she was robbed by a man who stole her cell phone and other belongings, in the area of Avenida Doutor Arnaldo.
The GCM and the victim went to the place where the man was shot, and the woman recognized him. He had her belongings.
Forensics were called to the scene and traffic became intense in the region.
The case was registered in the 78th Police District (Jardins) and forwarded to the DHPP (State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection), which continues with investigations, according to the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security).
