According to information provided to the police, Delson was in the apartment with his partner, Renata and her partner. The group spent the afternoon together, with no record of conflicts. At around 6pm, the journalist's boyfriend left the place and stated that the gathering was going on normally until that moment.
After he left, an argument reportedly began at the property. During the disagreement, Renata took a knife and hit Delson several times. The suspect's companion tried to intervene to protect the journalist, but was also injured.
Delson and his wife managed to leave the apartment, located on the seventh floor, and go down the stairs. The journalist fell in the fifth floor hall and died at the scene. The other victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After the attack, Renata returned to the apartment, locked the door and threatened to take her own life. The Military Police Special Operations Battalion was called to negotiate the surrender, but the suspect did not comply with the agents' orders.
The police used low-impact explosives to open the door and then a stun gun to immobilize her. According to TV Anhanguera, Renata admitted to the military that she had committed the crime.
Major João Rosa Soares Júnior, deputy commander of BOPE, declared that the woman had a psychotic episode during the incident.
Delson and Renata had been friends for several years. The apartment where the journalist lived and where the attack took place belonged to the suspect, who rented the property to him.
Graduated in marketing from Faculdade Cambury de Goiânia, Delson also had a postgraduate degree in Business in Digital Marketing. He wrote a column in the Diário de Aparecida and had worked in the newspapers A Hora, Jornal da Imprensa and Diário do Estado de Goiás.
The journalist also founded Revista Class News, a publication focused on fashion, gastronomy, tourism and celebrities in Goiás. On social media, he had more than 95 thousand followers. Delson had no children.
The Civil Police are investigating the motivation for the attack and are seeking to clarify all the details of the dynamics of the crime.
Couple arrested on suspicion of killing newborn in RJ
The man and woman, identified as the newborn's parents, were arrested yesterday. According to investigations, the 22-year-old woman gave birth at home in the early hours of the morning with the help of her partner. The Civil Police did not release the names of the two.
