In total, 59 recordings were passed on by the Federal Police to the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the Public Ministry of São Paulo.

Based on this material, Gaeco, the PF and the Civil Police Internal Affairs Office launched Operation Bazaar in March, which targeted a corruption scheme considered “systemic”, with money laundering and the involvement of four police stations and a division of three departments of the São Paulo Civil Police.
At the time, 25 search and seizure warrants, 11 arrest warrants and six subpoenas related to precautionary measures other than arrest were executed. The actions affected members of the criminal organization, lawyers and police officers.
Subsequently, the evidence also helped form Operation Janus, which resulted in the arrest of 18 defendants. Eleven of them were captured on Tuesday, while two others were already arrested.
According to Gaeco, the “audio obtained in the analyzed extractions clearly shows the role of those investigated as agents of promotion and financing of the faction, with some of the interlocutors being members and effective leaders of the criminal organization”. Estadão had access to part of the conversations.
One of them involves lawyer Guilherme Sacomano Nasser, who, according to Gaeco, participated in the offer of R$100,000 to police officers to try to prevent investigations against companies linked to the criminal group made up of Cléber Santos, Robson Martins de Souza and Paulo Rogério Dias, known as Paulo Barão.
The bribe was allegedly offered to police officers José Eduardo da Silva and Ciro Borges de Magalhães Ferraz.
According to Gaeco, the agents failed to “investigate the illicit conduct they identified in the analysis of financial intelligence reports (RIFs) requested from the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf)”.
Estadão was unable to contact Nasser or the defense of the others mentioned in the investigation.
JANUS
Operation Janus gathered evidence that PCC financial operators also maintained close and friendly relationships with colonels who were members of the São Paulo Military Police leadership.
Luiz Carlos Pereira Martins and José Augusto Coutinho, former general commander of the PM and Rota, are mentioned, as well as a man identified as “Patrício”. When contacted, the PM command highlighted that it participated in the operation with the Public Ministry.
Coutinho resigned and was dismissed from his position on April 16, after a meeting with governor Tarcísio de Freitas regarding a statement by prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya to the PM's Internal Affairs Department.
In the report, Gakiya stated that he had given Coutinho an audio that would prove that military police officers from Rota sold information to the PCC. According to the prosecutor, Coutinho took no action.
Estadão requested a statement from the colonels. The members of the former PM leadership mentioned in the investigation were not targets of the operation.
Italian deputy says Carla Zambelli is missing
Angelo Bonelli claims that the former deputy has not been seen publicly since a meeting in Rome. The Italian court annulled the decision authorizing the extradition and ordered that the Brazilian request be analyzed again.
