SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - The Federal Revenue Service opened consultations on the special batch of automatic Income Tax refunds at 9am this Wednesday (8), which also became known as IR cashback. The measure is aimed...
According to the IRS, around 500 thousand taxpayers were left out of this batch because they did not have their CPF registered as a Pix key. Those who were not included will still be able to receive the amounts, but will need to submit their Income Tax declaration to the Federal Revenue Service, even after the deadline.
The rule applies to both 2025 and 2026 declarations, referring to tax withheld from salaries and payments received in 2025. It is also possible to request refunds for the last five years, as long as the taxpayer is entitled to the amounts.
The query to check who is part of the automatic refund batch can be done via the Federal Revenue website or app. You must provide your CPF number and date of birth. Payment will be made on July 15th directly to the account linked to the CPF type Pix key.
On the My Income Tax page, the taxpayer can access the declaration automatically generated by the IRS, check the information used, include additional data, if necessary, and make adjustments before processing is completed.
According to the IRS, around 4 million taxpayers should receive approximately R$500 million at this stage. Values ??are limited to R$1,000 per person.
The special batch is not part of the regular 2026 Income Tax refund calendar, intended for those who sent their declaration on time this year. The third regular batch is scheduled for July 31st, and the fourth will be released on August 31st.
I HAD INCOME TAX WITHHOLDED IN 2024, BUT I DID NOT SUBMIT THE DECLARATION IN 2025. AM I RIGHT TO A REFUND?
Yes. The automatic refund of Income Tax, which became known as "IR cashback", is aimed at taxpayers who were not required to submit the declaration, did not send it on their own initiative, had tax withheld at source, have amounts to be refunded and maintain their regular CPF with a registered Pix key of the CPF type.
This is the case, for example, of workers who only had income during part of 2024 and, therefore, were below the mandatory declaration limit, but suffered income tax withholding in some months.
Those who did not have their CPF registered as a Pix key will not receive the amounts automatically, but can still have access to the refund when submitting the declaration for the calendar year 2024. To do this, it is necessary to download the PGD (Declaration Generator Program) for 2025 (from the declarations sent last year) or fill out the declaration via the app or the Meu Taxo de Renda website.
I HAD INCOME TAX WITHHOLDED IN 2025, BUT I DID NOT SUBMIT THE DECLARATION IN 2026. CAN I RECEIVE A REFUND?
Yes. As is the case in relation to the calendar year 2024, taxpayers who did not submit their Income Tax declaration because they were not required to may have amounts to be refunded. This is the case of workers who only had income during part of 2025 and, therefore, were below the mandatory declaration limit, although they suffered Income Tax withholding in some months.
In this situation, the refund will not be automatic. To receive the amounts, it will be necessary to send the 2026 Income Tax declaration, referring to the calendar year 2025. This can be done through the 2026 PGD or through the My Income Tax application or website.
WHAT IF I DIDN'T SEND THE DECLARATION IN PREVIOUS YEARS? CAN I STILL REQUEST A REFUND?
Yes. It is possible to send retroactive declarations for the last five years. Therefore, in 2026, it is still possible to submit declarations from the 2022 financial year onwards. If Income Tax was withheld at source and the taxpayer has amounts to be refunded, he or she will be able to recover the amount to which he or she is entitled.
Those who were not required to submit the declaration are not subject to the submission deadline and, therefore, do not pay the late fine, which has a minimum value of R$165.74 and can reach 20% of the tax due.
As in other cases, it will be necessary to send the declaration to receive any refund. When filling out the declaration, you must inform all income received during the year, in addition to deductible expenses, such as health, education, pension and dependent expenses. If you report dependents, you will also need to declare the income and expenses of each of them.
