Week will have 150 mm of rain and storms changing address

The southern region of Brazil, especially the Rio Grande do Sul territory, has been suffering from a lot of rain throughout the days. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), this condition should remain at least until Wednesday (22). Check out the week's forecast for the entire country:

South

The week begins with a predominance of unstable weather in much of the region due to the action of frontal systems, with significant accumulations of rain expected throughout the period. Inmet highlights that the largest volumes are expected in Rio Grande do Sul, with around 150 mm by Wednesday (22), causing disruption in some locations. In Santa Catarina and Paraná there is also a forecast of rain, however, with smaller amounts, varying between 30 mm and 70 mm.

Southeast

The beginning of the week will be marked by stable conditions, with the action of a high pressure system that will contribute to maintaining firm weather. From the middle of the week onwards, the advance of an oceanic frontal system that was operating in the South “changes address” and will favor an increase in instability in the Southeast, especially in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where accumulations can reach 50 mm in some locations.

Midwest

Firm weather should prevail throughout the week in most of the region, covering the Federal District, Goiás and Mato Grosso. However, Inmet warns that there is a forecast of rain showers in Mato Grosso do Sul, especially in the center-south of the state, where, from Wednesday onwards, more significant accumulations are expected, which could reach around 40 mm.

Northeast

The rain should concentrate along the coastal strip, with emphasis on the area that stretches between the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, where rainfall could reach up to 80 mm throughout the week. In other locations on the northeastern coast, volumes vary between 5 mm and 40 mm. On the other hand, in much of the region, especially in the Sertão Nordestino, there is no rain forecast.

North

The largest accumulations of precipitation are expected to occur in the central-west of Amazonas and in Roraima, with volumes that may occasionally exceed 60 mm throughout the week. According to Inmet, on the coast of Pará, Amapá and Acre, the accumulations should be around 30 mm. In other areas of the region, minor rainfall is expected, with volumes of up to 5 mm throughout the week.
