Storm, risk of overflows and temperatures of 38°C: what to expect from the weather in the next few days?

Areas in southern Brazil are expected to face a change in weather conditions in the coming days. Instability gains strength over the center-south of Rio Grande do Sul, with forecasts of intense rain, gusts of wind, hail, the possibility of microexplosions and even tornadoes.

According to the forecast, some soybean areas in the Pelotas region are already showing the formation of heavy clouds, but the scenario tends to intensify throughout the night and the next few days.

Meteorological models indicate that between 150 and 200 millimeters of rain will accumulate by the beginning of next week, enough to increase the risk of flooding and river overflows in several regions of the state.

Between Sunday (19) and Monday (20), rain is expected to advance to Santa Catarina and Paraná. The forecast is that instabilities will remain over these states until approximately the 25th and 26th of July, maintaining the risk of storms, strong winds, hail and high volumes of precipitation, especially in the center-south of Paraná.

Meanwhile, the scenario is opposite in the main producing regions of the Center-West, Southeast and in the interior of Matopiba. The steady weather favors the progress of activities in the field, but a heat wave is expected to significantly increase temperatures.

Over the next week, highs could exceed 37°C and 38°C in areas of Mato Grosso, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as the Triângulo Mineiro and the interior of São Paulo.

After the cold front passes through the South, a new mass of cold air is expected to advance over the region at the turn of the month. The system will be concentrated in the southern states and could cause frosts, mainly in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
