The crime occurred in February this year, at the then couple's residence, in the Cohab André Maggi housing complex, when the suspect arrived home late at night and, when asked about the time, reacted aggressively, attacking the victim with punches, slaps and pulling her hair, throwing her to the floor.

The victim called the police, who found the house ransacked, with signs of violence, and the victim with injuries and bruises on her neck, shoulders and arms. The woman said that she had been in a seven-year relationship with the suspect and that this was the first time she had been attacked, but that she had feared being killed.
The man was arrested in the act and taken to the Porto Alegre do Norte Police Station, but was released in court to answer for the crime in freedom. However, the Public Prosecutor's Office appealed and the Court ordered the suspect's preventive detention.
