The president of the Animal Protection Association in Sinop (APAMS), Luciani Chiarello, made an appeal, over the weekend, to help the entity that takes care of dogs and cats, which were in a situation of abandonment and are being cared for daily. The shelter is overcrowded and she shared that, due to the excessive number of animals in the stalls, stress has occurred and two dogs “were brutally attacked inside their own stalls, a reflection of the stress caused by the number of animals living in a space that no longer accommodates anyone”. One had a fractured leg and the other had injuries.

“But others were not so lucky.” "The overcrowding of APAMS is no longer a warning. It has become a daily tragedy", points out the president. “How many more lives will need to be taken so that the population, the Public Ministry and public authorities in general can see the reality of our shelter, our city, what is happening?”, he charged.
"We don't want to see any more animals suffer in this way. But, without adoptions, without support from society and without more people taking up this cause, this story will continue to repeat itself", he mentioned. "APAMS asks for help. For every life that depends on an opportunity to survive", he explained.
“We can all do something for these animals, if we just want to.” “This reality needs to be changed and if you are part of the process, you can do something.” "You can't make an adoption? You can't promote APAMS?, You can't ask your friend who is going to buy but adopt?", he asked, in a video on the entity's social network.
APAMS currently cares for 320 animals, most of them dogs, and has already helped thousands that were abandoned, run over or mistreated, providing surgeries, treatment, medication, food, in addition to the entity's team that maintains daily care at the shelter.
The entity has held dog and cat adoption fairs. The next fair will be on the 25th of this month at Pet5 on Avenida Joaquim Socreppa, Jardim Celeste.
