Military police officers from the 13th Regional Command arrested, this Sunday (5.7), a 35-year-old man suspected of keeping his own 77-year-old mother in private prison, in addition to committing domestic violence and threats, in the municipality of Campinápolis. The victim was rescued by the military during the incident. The 1st Platoon team arrived at the scene after receiving a report about the case at a residence in the district of São José do Couto.

Witnesses reported that the accused arrived at the property drunk and began to display aggressive behavior, making threats against his wife, mother-in-law and other family members. He also damaged several objects in the residence and tried to set fire to his own vehicle, after which he was restrained.

The suspect would also have prevented an elderly woman, suffering from Alzheimer's, high blood pressure, motor limitations and sequelae of cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs), from leaving the residence, keeping her locked in the property for five hours. A family member who tried to remove the victim was also threatened.

Upon arriving at the scene, the military carried out an intervention at the residence and located the suspect inside the property. Next to him was a machete, which was seized. The suspect was taken to the police station to file a police report.
