Jayme can run for government if she wins the Union convention, says César Miranda

The information was passed on by the former Secretary of State for Economic Development, César Miranda. According to him, the conversation took place last Tuesday (7), at the headquarters of the União Brasil State Directory.

According to Miranda, Cidinho would have personally assured Jayme that the decision taken at the party convention will be respected by the federation formed by União Brasil and Progressistas.

“Cidinho told Jayme that, if he wins the convention at União Brasil, he won’t block his candidacy in the federation,” said César Miranda in a conversation obtained by the report.

According to the former secretary, Cidinho would also have communicated this position to former governor Mauro Mendes (Union), who defends the pre-candidacy of vice-governor Otaviano Pivetta (Republicans) for state succession.

The statement reinforces the possibility that the dispute over the nomination of União Brasil to the Government of Mato Grosso will be resolved internally, through the party convention, without subsequent intervention by the federation.

During the conversation, César Miranda assessed that, if Jayme Campos manages to overcome the dispute within the party, he will arrive strengthened for the electoral campaign. In his view, the senator is capable of advancing to the second round and becoming a competitive name in the race for Palácio Paiaguás.

Miranda also stated that the moves to weaken Jayme politically would have had the opposite effect. According to him, the behind-the-scenes of the dispute ended up increasing sympathy for the senator inside and outside the party, strengthening the congressman's electoral project.
