The esthesiometer is an essential instrument for evaluating the sensitivity of peripheral nerves, allowing early identification of neurological changes, monitoring the clinical evolution of patients and preventing physical disabilities resulting from the disease.
The municipal secretary of Health, Deisi Bocalon, highlighted that the investment demonstrates the management's commitment to improving the assistance offered to the population.
"Strengthening Primary Care is one of the priorities of our management. The acquisition of these esthesiometers guarantees greater quality of care, contributes to the early diagnosis of leprosy and allows for more effective monitoring of patients, reducing the risk of sequelae and increasing the quality of care provided to the population", stated the secretary.
The acquisition is part of the actions of the Municipal Leprosy Control Program, which seeks to expand the response capacity of health teams to a disease that still represents an important challenge for public health.
According to the Deputy Secretary of Primary Care, Cinara Brito, the equipment also strengthens the work carried out by the teams at the health units, who work directly in diagnosing and monitoring cases.
“Primary Care is the user’s main entry point into the Unified Health System. With this equipment, our teams will be even better able to carry out accurate assessments, identify changes in sensitivity early and monitor patients throughout the treatment, ensuring comprehensive care and preventing disabilities”, highlighted Cinara.
