The new exhibition reinforces the museum's role as one of the main spaces for promoting art, memory and culture in Cuiabá. In recent months, the place has hosted exhibitions of different artistic languages, such as exhibitions on the World Cups, the legacy of Ayrton Senna, Brazilian visual poetry and initiatives aimed at training new audiences, consolidating itself as an environment for valuing cultural production and the capital's historical heritage.
In her fifth solo exhibition, Danusa Vechiato uses paintings, original characters and elements made from reused cardboard to propose reflections on what is usually considered disposable. The proposal also draws attention to the responsibility in caring for pets and all creation.
According to the artist, the exhibition was born from the intention of bringing together two areas that are part of her trajectory: veterinary medicine and art.
"I use cardboard to show that not everything that seems disposable really is. In the same way, pets cannot be abandoned because their routine has changed or because they are old. Having a look of love is a choice", he stated.
Danusa further explains that her works are inspired by Christian principles and seek to spark reflections on care for creation and people's responsibility towards nature and animals.
In addition to the paintings, the exhibition has interactive spaces that allow visitors to participate in the artistic experience, encouraging reflection through messages and records along the way.
Museum strengthens culture and tourism
For the artist, hosting the exhibition at the Museu do Morro da Caixa D’Água Velha represents an opportunity to bring the public closer to a historical heritage of Cuiabá.
"It's a privilege to be in this museum, which is part of the city's history. Many people still don't know about this space, which today houses art, culture and welcomes visitors of all ages for free", he highlighted.
The municipal secretary of Economic Development, Labor, Tourism and Agriculture, Fellipe Corrêa, highlighted that the Morro da Caixa D’Água Velha Museum has increased its relevance as a cultural and tourist facility in the capital.
“The Morro da Caixa D’Água Velha Museum has been consolidating itself as an important space for valuing art, culture and the historical heritage of Cuiabá. Exhibitions such as 'Encontro do Amor' expand the population's access to local artistic production, boost cultural tourism and offer visitors an experience that combines creativity, awareness and preservation of our history. Supporting initiatives like this also means strengthening the creative economy and encouraging artists who contribute to enriching the cultural identity of our city.”
The historical structure of the museum also caught the attention of those who visited the exhibition for the first time.
Electrical engineer Denísio Rosa de Alvarenga praised the architectural reuse of the old water reservoir and highlighted the exhibition's proposal to use recyclable materials to convey a message of appreciation for animals.
Among the students, the experience also sparked reflections. Heitor Moura de Alvarenga, 11 years old, said that the interactive space was what caught his attention the most and said that the main thing he learned was to better understand the importance of caring for animals.
Student Amanda da Silva Braga highlighted the verses present in the paintings and stated that the exhibition encourages respect for pets. She also praised the museum and said she intends to return for further visits.
Student Miguel da Silva Braga said that the message of the exhibition speaks to his own experience. Owner of a dog rescued after suffering mistreatment, he stated that the exhibition reinforced the importance of treating animals with affection and responsibility.
The exhibition also attracted visitors from other states. Professor Wilson Cuiabano, a resident of Rio de Janeiro with strong family ties in Mato Grosso, defined the museum as an example of reusing historical heritage.
"Just as the exhibition talks about recycling, the old water tank also gained a new function. Today it is a space where culture happens, and this has a very important meaning", he commented.
Professor Ana Carolina Carvalho, from Osasco (SP), highlighted both the artistic proposal and the preservation of the building's original structure.
"In addition to valuing the local artist, the exhibition reflects on the reuse of materials. We also noticed the care taken to preserve the museum's historical structure", he noted.
