With the theme “Africa and diaspora: solidarities, intercultural and literary dynamics”, the congress proposes reflections on the connections between Portuguese-speaking African countries and their diasporas, highlighting the multiple forms of production, circulation and resistance of black literatures and cultures in different social, historical and cultural contexts. The event also strengthens international academic exchange and expands dialogue between researchers committed to valuing African and Afro-diasporic intellectual productions.
In this edition, the International Association of African Literary and Cultural Studies (AFROLIC) pays tribute to professor Laura Padilha and professor Benjamin Abdala Junior, recognized for their pioneering spirit and significant contribution to the consolidation of studies of Portuguese-language African literature in Brazil. Professors Zuleide Duarte, Maria Nazareth Fonseca, Simone Gomes Caputo and Sônia Maria Santos (In memoriam) will also receive an honorable mention, in recognition of their careers dedicated to teaching and research.
