Mick Jagger says partnership with Paul McCartney on new album was unexpected
SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Singer Mick Jagger, 82, stated that the partnership with ex-Beatles, Paul McCartney, on the Rolling Stones' new album "Foreign Tongues" happened unexpectedly. "Paul was playing in the studio...
"Paul was playing in the studio next door and our bassist Darryl Jones wasn't with us. We called Paul and he agreed", he said in an interview with Fantástico this Sunday (12).
According to Jagger, McCartney plays a "very funky bass on 'Covered in You', which is a melodic rap, a more punk song". The Beatles and the Rolling Stones emerged at the same time, but they didn't produce many songs together.
"Foreign Tongues" was released last Friday (10) and is influenced by genres that permeate the group's trajectory, with a mix of blues, rock, country and soul. This miscellany of styles was approved by critics, who considered this work proof that the band remains current and relevant. In addition to McCartney, the album features guest appearances by singers Bruno Mars and Robert Smith.
For Jagger, the album is full of energy and good humor and part of compositions that look at life in an optimistic way.
"My world is vibrant, I have a nine-year-old son, I live surrounded by children and grandchildren, I play football. I like to write about fun things. This is a lively album, with just a little suffering here and there", he said.
The singer, who maintains a personal and emotional relationship with Brazil, did not hide his enthusiasm when asked about a possible visit to the country, with the new album tour, but left the possibility open. "I would love to go and play in Brazil. I'm looking forward to it and I really want to go. I can't wait to go on stage in the big cities and the small ones too," he said.
A tour for the new album is still uncertain. Singer Keith Richards, 82, has also been asked about it, but escaped the answer and left only a "we'll talk next year".
